Welcome
Welcome to Advance Leisure the brand identity for Nunnery Wood Sports Complex and St. Johns Sports Centre. Located either side of the River Severn and serving ‘the faithful’ Cathedral City of Worcester, both venues are local authority dual use centres which feature an array of facilities.
Nunnery Wood Sports Complex is situated on the Spetchley Road and has the following facilities;
- 4 court Sports Hall
- 2 glass backed squash courts
- Air conditioned Harpers Fitness Suite
- Dance Studio
- Multi purpose room
- Bar lounge
- Floodlit Athletics Track (with full event facilities)
- Floodlit outdoor Full sized 3G All Weather Pitch for football & hockey
The existing St Johns Sports Centre in Swanpool Walk built in 1984 has the following facilities; 4 court badminton hall, 2 glass backed squash courts, activity room, bar lounge and outdoor floodlit All Weather Pitch. However, the existing building will close on Sunday 31st August and the brand new £4 million pound facility which is currently under construction on a nearby site is scheduled to open on Monday 8th September.
The new building will provide access to the following facilities.
- 4 court Sports Hall with under floor heating
- Air conditioned Harpers Fitness Suite (56 stations with 42 IFI accredited pieces of equipment)
- Air conditioned Dance Studio with sprung wooden floor
- Multi purpose room with under floor heating
- Two floodlit outdoor 5-a-side 3G All Weather Pitches
Although the new facility will mirror the footprint of the original building, with an extra floor level that’s pretty much where the similarity ends. Shining like a beacon out on the surrounding area, the new centre is sure to quickly become a local landmark at its new location directly on the main Malvern Road.
Although we will soon be moving into the new facility the staff at both St. Johns Sports Centre and its sister site at Nunnery Wood Sports Complex will continue to greet customers old and new with their renowned warm welcome that has seen both facilities achieve ‘highly commended’ status under the ‘Quest ‘ Quality Management Scheme.
Visitors to the facilities can ‘Pay As You Go’ or benefit financially from a range of more cost effective options on the ‘Advance’ membership scheme with payment options tailored to suit every pocket. Whatever the reason for your visit you’ll find Nunnery Wood Sports Complex and St. Johns Sports Centre great places to spend your well earned leisure time.
